Sipwell Rock Steady Sparkling Rosé
Tasting Notes:
100% Grenache. Fresh and crisp with a light pink hue, aromas of red cherry lead to flavors of ripe strawberries and angel food cake. All with a creamy, bubbly finish.
Sipwell Wines:
Sipwell wines is a female founded, black owned wine company that specializes in producing award winning canned wines. All of the grapes for their wines are sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in the central coast of California and all of their sparkling wines are naturally can conditioned. All of their wines come in these single-serve aluminum cans that are infinitely recyclable and easily portable.
Rosé:
Rosé is a tricky one because it’s not a varietal in of itself, it’s a style of wine. All rosé, well true rosé, is red wine. But it can be made from many different kinds of red grapes and into a number of different style wines. There are two main ways rosé wines are produced. This wine was made using the maceration method where grapes are picked specifically to make rosé and are pressed off their skins quickly. This is because all the color pigment in wine comes from the skins.
Canned Wines:
While still somewhat controversial there are a lot of benefits for canned wines. In terms of sustainability- Aluminum cans are lighter than bottles. That means that they can be transported using less energy whether that transportation be direct to the consumer or to and from the winery or to different warehouses along the distribution process.
Some other benefits of canned wine includes the different sizes of cans. You can find anything for 187ml cans to 500ml. Though I would say the vast majority of the ones I see on the market are either a typical beer soda can size of 350ml or actually becoming more common is a 250ml size more suited to single servings.
And finally, canned wines also eliminate the issues / risks of cork taint which spoils 2-3% of all wines. As well as the risks of oxidation and light penetration.
Food & Wine Pairing:
Rosé is kind of like Pinot Noir in that it goes with A LOT. It’s great with seafood, chicken, white meats, grains, pasta, and summer vegetables. The tart acidity can be a nice balance for richer dishes. Rosé is also excellent with a wide range of cheeses.
