Tasting Notes: 

It’s full of bright red fruits with notes of fresh currants and red licorice as well as hints of mineral and spice on the finish. This is medium bodied but lean wine with nice, bright acid on the finish.

Font Du Vent Wines: 

Font du Vent is made up of five parcels - Font de Michelle, La Crau, La Pierre Plantée, Chartreuse and Croix de Bois. Their vineyards are now certified organic and the estate has been family owned since 1950.

Grape Varieties:

This wine is mainly Grenache with 30% Syrah and just a splash of Counoise. Cote du Rhone is typically thought of as the baby of Chateauneuf du Pape, which means that this region offers some of the best values in France. Top varieties here are the same as what you can expect from Chateauneuf including Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Counoise, and Carignane.

Rhone Valley, France: 

Made up of 2 distinct regions – Northern Rhone and Southern Rhone. Both are located along the banks of the Rhone River – which is probably the only reason the two regions are even grouped together.

The vast majority of the region is part of the Cotes – Du – Rhone appellation. Though there are smaller, more specific sub-appellations in both the Northern and Southern districts.

It’s the second largest wine producer in France after Bordeaux with 37 million cases annually. And while it used to be considered something of a second class citizen in France, ironically the acclaimed regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy used to get a very secret dose of rhone wines blended in to add more color, depth and complexity.

This wine is perfect for an aperitif, served with spicy dishes and Asian inspired food –Peking duck pancakes, a red thai curry,Korean marinated ribs or something classic like a gourmet burger.
