2018 Sierra Vita Inizio Red Blend
Tasting Notes:
This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Tempranillo, 15% Syrah and 10% Merlot. Despite the couple of years of age this bottle has this wine is young and highly aromatic with notes of bright red fruits, spice, balsamic vinegar and a finish that combines soft tannins and bright acidity.
Aromatic with notes of red and black fruits and balsamic notes, with medium to mild tannins, warm spices, rich with a balance of acidity, accompanied by long finish.
Sierra Vita Winery:
The Sierra vita Winery is a family project founded in 2015 by Dr. Arnulfo Vazquez Fernandez, who represents the third generation of his family working in the field. His grandfather and father, before him, were farmers. Inspired by his love and respect for the land, he decided to undertake this winery project, whose primary focus is precisely the care and hard work in the vineyard, and have it reflected in the wines they produce. His belief is that “a good wine always starts in the vineyard.”
Wine Blends:
Wine blending is the process of combining different wine varietals to create a composite that's better than any of the wines separately on their own. The wines blended might be from different varieties, different regions, different aging treatments and occasionally different vintages.
Each grape variety that is added to a wine blend contributes a special attribute, which combines to create a perfectly well-rounded, rich and smooth tasting wine. Wines from Bordeaux and Champagne are world-renowned for their exceptional wine blends.
Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico:
Located a 90 minute drive from the US border it is Mexico’s premier wine region. Valle de Guadalupe produces approximately 75% of all of Mexico’s wines and is responsible for almost all of the Mexican wines available in the US.
Baja in general has a hot, dry Mediterranean climate with similarities to Napa Valley and the Southern Rhone, but with a pronounced maritime influence, most of the vineyards are located within 15 miles of the pacific ocean.
Food & Wine Pairing:
This wine is a blend of some pretty big grapes so you definitely want to make sure you're pairing it with food that can stand up to the big flavors present in the wine. Because the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant red meats are always a good choice but they are certainly not the only option.
Personally I would pair this wine with anything from tacos, pizza, grilled veggies or even enjoyed all on its own.
