2022 Bodega Arautava Listan Blanco
The Garcia family of the Orotava valley count 3 generations of commercial wine production on the northern flank of Teide. Founded in 1998 and now run by the 3rd generation in Carlos Garcia.
Since taking over in 2020 Carlos has made rapid strides. All wines are fermented with indigenous yeast, 500 liter barrels and concrete tanks have been incorporated into a formerly all tank regime and though not seeking certification due to the islands tricky subtropical climate, he has farmed organically since the 2021 vintage. His goal is to produce wine with purity of fruit that express, in classical fashion, the islands unique combination of Atlantic and volcanic character.
This wine was direct pressed and fermented with indigenous yeast in tank and then aged for 3-4 months in tanks before bottles. It’s aromatically fresh, with citrus notes and touches of herbs like fennel and rosemary. It’s bright fresh and clean on the palate and very easy drinking. The perfect pairing for seafood and shellfish dishes, or fresh seasonal vegetables.
