2021 Beckmen Cuvee Le Bec
Tasting Notes:
Vibrant, fresh, and outgoing, the wine is filled with aromas of floral tinged, bright red fruits, licorice, pepper, and spice. Lively and balanced in the mouth, the wine’s acidity keeps the flavors bright and lifted on the palate and through the finish where beautiful, ripe tannins carry the flavors on and on.
Beckmen Vineyards:
Beckmen Vineyards is the first biodynamically farmed vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Beckmen wines are crafted almost exclusively from our two vineyards: the Thomas and Judith Beckmen Estate Vineyard in Los Olivos District AVA and Purisima Mountain Vineyard in Ballard Canyon AVA. And their main focus is producing a deep portfolio of Rhone Style wines in Santa Barbara.
Santa Ynez Valley:
Santa Ynez Valley is a long, east-west corridor with very cool temperatures on the coast that become progressively warmer inland. Consequently, several varietals do well, from Pinot Noir in the west to Cabernet and Merlot in the east. Several Rhône and Italian grape varietals have also gained acclaim in this versatile Santa Barbara County AVA. The largest concentration of wineries is in the Santa Ynez Valley appellation. Because the grapes for this wine are sourced from two different sub-regions within the larger Santa Ynez Valley, Ballard Canyon and the Los Olivos District, the larger region of Santa Ynez is put on the label instead.
GSM Blends:
This wine is a blend of 50% Syrah, 38% Grenache, 7% Mourvedre and 3% Counoise. A classic combination of Rhone Varieties. A GSM Blend is so named because it represents the 3 important grapes grown in the Cote Du Rhone region of France. Today this blend is produced throughout the world and is loved for it's complex red fruit flavors and age worthy potential.
Food & Wine Pairing:
GSM blend is a versatile food pairing wine that works particularly well with dishes featuring Mediterranean spices including red pepper, sage, rosemary, and olives. Since this blend is dominated by Syrah a pretty, rich and complex grape the food and flavors need to stand up to the wine. Think barbecue, grilled meats, portobello mushrooms and things like that. And don't forget to incorporate those herbs!
